Rococo - Spellbound

Blue-green with foil shimmer

After my generally good results with Rococo polishes from the SpaceNK bargains last year, I picked up a couple more in the treasure trove that is TK Maxx!

Spellbound is a gorgeous slightly green blue packed with fine blue shimmery foil.  Although it does look a bit glitter like it's not gritty at all, the foil gives a much smoother finish.

The shimmeryness isn't quite as visible on the nail as in the bottle, but she's still very pretty!

Application was good and swatches are 2 coats, no top coat.

RRP for Rococo is around the £12, I paid £3 in TK.

Nails Inc November - Berkeley Mews

Navy Shimmer

Berkeley Mews is a blackened slightly blurple navy shimmer that's wonderfully opaque.

Swatches shown are two coats you could probably get away with one if you were careful.

Pretty sure this was a QVC special which they described as Navy Metallic but I think that's pushing it a bit!

Not a current colour but it pops up on ebay pretty often.

Golden Rose - Paris 140

Deep grey/navy crelly

Another from my Istanbul haul...

140 is a greyed navy crelly, which applies both darker but slightly less grey than it looks in the bottle.

Application was great and these swatches are 3 coats, no top coat.

But look at that shine!  I can see the sky and the green bush outside my window reflected in the shine.

Alessandro - Dark Denim

Deep greyed blue creme

Dark Denim is a very dark slightly greyed blue creme.

Formula and application are great and this is a one coat wonder if you're careful, swatches shown are 2 coats with no top coat.

But beware there is a downside to all this - total smurf nails on removal!  Definitely double up on the base coat.

Nails Inc - New King's Road

Deep blue with fine gold shimmer

New King's Road is from the Midas Touch collection that I think was originally a QVC collection but has also turned up in TK Maxx.

New King's Road is a dark blue creme with cool gold fine flaky shimmer that's nicely visible in and out of the sun.

And this swatch is just one (thick) coat!  I do love a one coat wonder...  though most other reviews seem to be 2 coats so your mileage may vary...

Barbara Daly Makeup - Midnight

Navy shimmer

Midnight is a blackened navy with a silvery blue shimmer

makeup is the cosmetics brand created for Tesco (a UK supermarket) by Barbara Daly, one of the first  professional British makeup artists to be well known.  Barbara Daly was certainly the first makeup artist I knew by name back in the late 70's.  Yes I'm as old as that sounds!

This one is a mini-ish bottle, at 7ml it's quite generous for a mini!

Formula was good, it's nicely opaque and I didn't have any trouble with the small brush.

Swatch shown is 2 coats, no top coat.  Apologies for the line on my ring finger, I have a silk patch holding a break together and it wasn't very well buffed or covered in this shot

Overall a nice polish, good colour although nothing unique. I do have a fair few navy shimmers but they call to me, like a siren!

The mini bottles retail for £3.

Nails Inc - Limited Edition Royal Collection - Part II

So, with the Royal Wedding, just a day away, here's the second part of the Royal Collection from nails inc.

Windsor – a deep metallic navy

Again, swatch is 2 coats with no top coat and application was good.

It doesn't show in the pictures (of course) but there's definitely a hint of blurple in this polish.

Lastly in the collection is Westminster Abbey – a liquid gold shimmer

I'd say Westminster Abbey was a foil rather than a shimmer, either way it's pretty and I don't think I have anything like it.

And apologies, I don't know why my ring finger looks so lumpy

Overall I think this works as a collection, the colours seem to form a coherent group and definitely have a regal feel to them.
