Catrice - Forget-Me-Not

Purple packed with purple/pink shimmer

I'm sharing these old swatches (2011!) because I'm wearing this polish today (Nov 2023) and because I miss blogging.

I know nail blogging is pretty much dead and I'm not going to start a resurgence but I might share a few old swatches as I downsize my collection.

Rococo - Spellbound

Blue-green with foil shimmer

After my generally good results with Rococo polishes from the SpaceNK bargains last year, I picked up a couple more in the treasure trove that is TK Maxx!

Spellbound is a gorgeous slightly green blue packed with fine blue shimmery foil.  Although it does look a bit glitter like it's not gritty at all, the foil gives a much smoother finish.

The shimmeryness isn't quite as visible on the nail as in the bottle, but she's still very pretty!

Application was good and swatches are 2 coats, no top coat.

RRP for Rococo is around the £12, I paid £3 in TK.

Butter London - Posh Bird

Smoky lilac foil shimmer

Posh Bird is a lovely polish but somewhat tricky to describe.

There's purple there and some grey and maybe a bit of taupe/mushroom.  And it's packed with foily shimmer which mostly looks silver but sometimes duochrome goldish as you can see in my bottle shots.

Either way, it's gorgeous - easy to apply and very opaque.  Swatches shown are two coats with no top coat.

Posh Bird was first released as an exclusive in the US for NY Fashion Week back in 2012.   Unfortunately it's no longer available from Butter London and doesn't seem to pop up very often on eBay in the UK.

Any dupe suggestions for anyone who's fallen in love with this one?

And as for that name?  Ha, I am so far from being a Posh Bird!

D'Orleac - 29

Burgundy Gold Foil Shimmer

D'Orleac 29 is an interesting burgundy/gold foil.  The base is a deep burgundy foily shimmer and then there's a strong flash of yellow gold foil shimmer running through.  Which ends up being quite lovely.  Which is why it should have a name!

Application was good, nothing notable about the brush and swatches shown are 2 coats, no top coat.

I think D'Orleac is a Spanish cosmetics brand.  I bought this and a selection of other colours and nail care products from a French online sale site and this shade cost me £2!

Alessandro - 202

Orange foily shimmer

Happy Halloween!

As you've probably worked out, I don't do nail art... Mostly time (I'd rather be swatching) but also a big dose of assuming I'd be terrible at it!  But as it's Halloween the least I can do is share a fabulous orange toned polish with you lovely folk.

So here is Alessandro 202, a glowy orange foily shimmer.  The shimmer is gold and adds to the depth.

It is a little sheer, this swatch is 3 coats and there's definitely still a hint of VNL..

But the best bit, you can pick up this bottle of Alessandro polish (10ml) for only £1 on HalfPricePerfumes, although I'm not sure you'd be expecting this colour based on the swatch on there!

Alessandro is a quality German brand and this size bottle would normally retail for around £8.95

Mavala - Romance

Rust shimmer with silver foil

Romance is a brick/rust shimmer with masses of silver foily shimmer

Liked this much more than I thought I would

Swatch shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Mavala is a Swiss brand that only comes in these tiny 5ml bottles.
